Good news

December 9th, 2009

He will move to new hospital next Monday. In that place, he will get more specialized training/rehabilitation, so we are pretty happy about it. It must be hard to leave current hospital though…the staff are just so nice! I promised Jun to come back here to surprise them when he gets lots better! That would be great!

A quick note

December 1st, 2009

He had his tracheotomy removed yesterday! It seems like it still hurts, so we will see how it goes. He wasn’t happy at all yeterday because he couldn’t eat anything…poor boy.

It’s already the end of Nov.

It has been already (or probably ONLY) 3 months since the accident. It seems looong time for us, but we didn’t imagine 3 months ago that we could have such a good day within 3 months. Thank you so much for your continuous support!

He has been eating a lot these days. He eats pretty much everything including our mom’s homemade chocolate bread! He doesn’t look happy when he usually eats, but he smiles when he eats mom’s bread! Does he remember/ taste the bread?!?! He eats it by himself. He enjoys some snacks in the afternoon as well. What a spoiled boy! lol

He is working hard on his rehabilitation too, of course! He started to practice walking with bars (and support from his back) sometimes in a week. It seems hard for him, but he makes progress a bit day by day. He can play catch better too! He had a good time with playing catch with his friend the other day.

Next thing that we are waiting is talking with him! I feel like it will come pretty soon. Is Santa Claus coming to Honda family? ☆ You are welcome to come earlier than Christmas, Santa!

Jun’s week

November 20th, 2009

Jun is eating more and more everyday! He ate only porridge and mushed vegetables on Monday but he eats mushy rice and regular vegetables, meat, and fish. He eats much faster now as well. He even uses his spoon once I give it to him with rice on it. I hope he will get more energy nfor more rehabilitation! Thank you for your continuous prayers!

It’s a good day!

Peace!

Today Jun threw a ball. Actually the ball was dropped from his hand, but he did it on purpose! He is eating a jello-like food to re-learn eating. His visitors are pretty sure he can hear, see, and understand them. He can even understand English, too! Mihori’s American co-workers visit him sometimes and he seems to understand them.

Recently Jun was able to give a high-five and also give a peace sign! Thank you everyone for your caring concern and interest in Jun’s recovery. We are making progress!

Good days and bad days

October 3rd, 2009

Looks like he's smiling...Jun is having  good days and bad days recently. In a good day, he can ride on a wheel chair and go out of hospital for a half hour or so. He looks like smiling sometimes and moves his body a lot. In a bad day, he doesn’t move, has no facial expression, and stay in bed for the whole day.

First MRI

September 15th, 2009

First of all, thank you soooooooooo much for all your thoughts, cards, loves, and prayers for Jun and us!! They have been helping us a lot. We really appreciate that.

Today, Jun had an MRI. It was actually his first MRI since the accident because he had some metal protections for his teeth. You know, you can’t take MRI with metal, right? Anyway, the doctor said his brain stem and some parts in the frontal lobe are damaged. Brain stem controls pretty much everything, so it is a crucial damage for him, and that is the reason why he is still unconscious. He blinks, moves his arms, yawns… but it is rather natural body reaction than responses and doesn’t count as conscious. He can’t respond to us at all yet.

The doctor said she has no idea how long would it take to be conscious. It might be within this year, or forever. We are pretty sure it will take long time. Only we can do right now is talk to him, give him lots of stimuli, trust him, and wait. It would be tough, but we want to fight with him, for him. Luckily, I have such a great/ positive parents, so I feel like we can go for it!

Anyway, thank you again! Papa and Mama said thank you and hello to all of you as well!!
We love you!

Mihori
